When we first started looking at houses in the Nashville area, we looked at farms. I had been collecting pictures of Farmhouse kitchens with open beams and a rustic edge. When we bought this Historic home we wanted to reference the history of the house but have a modern edge throughout. I like creating a juxtaposition and tension with new and old together. It makes things more interesting for sure.
I’m a classic girl at heart and you will see that as you flip through my inspiration pics for the kitchen. Here’s just a few of them below. We were pretty set on white cabinets that would respect the origins of the home, a touch of industrial and some modern elements. That combination seems to make things feel like a true home.
Although we need tons of storage in the kitchen, I love open shelving. Had to have a little of it
anyway.
Possible farmhouse table for breakfast area
I liked the idea of a breakfast nook. With a round table and mismatched chairs
There are so many more photos that were inspiring. These are just a few in my collection. More kitchen details to come in future blogs.
